I wasn’t originally going to make a playlist for Noah, but Loretta (@LaughingListener) and I started a reread of The Raven Cycle recently and I realized I missed the little tidbit about Noah liking Blink-182! How I missed this the first time around, I will never know, because I freakin love Blink. I attribute it to being so excited to get through the series (because it’s just that good). Annnnyyywaaay, I was stoked when I picked up on this little detail, so of course, I made a playlist.
“The Mustang had massive, expensive wheels…big rims, new spoiler, dark window tint…Next to the Blink-182 sticker was an Aglionby decal.” -The Raven Boys, Maggie Stiefvater
When Noah was alive, he absolutely was a typical 2000s d-bag skaterboi and proud of it (I mean…he does get hit with his skateboard sooo). He listens to Greenday, Blink, Sum 41, and so on and as you can imagine I relate so hard.
I found a handful of songs that speak to his character and journey through the series while still capturing above mentioned skaterboi essence. I could breakdown every song on this playlist, but it would be SO LONG. So, I’ll leave you with a few of my faves. I hope you enjoy this and much as I do!
What’s My Age Again?, Blink-182
Every teen skaterboi’s anthem to life. Also, who does know how old Noah actually is? Does he say 17 forever? Is he actually 24? Does he even know? Is age just a concept and doesn’t actually matter since time isn’t linear? I don’t think we’ll ever know.
Notable Lyrics: “What’s my age again? What’s my age again?”
Dead!, My Chemical Romance
Not technically “skaterboi” but close enough. This song also definitely came out after Noah died, but it’s just so perfect…come on. You know it is.
Notable Lyrics: “Have you heard the news that you’re dead?”
Good Riddance, Green Day
I’m not crying, you’re crying. I had to end this playlist with a sad/happy song and it just fit so well. Time isn’t a straight line…which means Noah could still be out there…right?? #NoahDeservedBetter
Notable Lyrics: “Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road. Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go. So make the best of this test, and don’t ask why…I hope you had the time of your life”

What did you think of my picks? What songs would you add? Do you have any playlists you’d want me to create?
